AllGov, “More Solar Energy Systems Installed in 18 Months Than in Previous 30 Years”, March 8th, 2014

The growth of solar panel installation has increased over the past few years, to the point where more systems were installed in 2013 than in all of the previous 30 years.  Solar is currently the second-leading new source of energy for the United States and produced 29% of all new electricity generated in 2013.

• In 2013 new solar power system installations were up 41% over 2012.
• California was the state with the most solar unit installs in 2013.
• Increase in demand for solar creates decrease in price, 15% less than average in 2012.
• Success of solar attributed to improved financing, public success, rapid adoption and grassroots support.
